Subject:
Colorful stories not just for stamp collectors
This is an excellent introduction to stamp collecting (philately) and the early history of postal services.
There is plenty here for some who might wish to compare events and ideas from the era of "snail mail" to concerns of our young internet age.
Some examples: the author discusses how sending letters became monetized, how people attempted to get the better of its costs, and of course how an unexpected fad, of stamp-collecting, began.
The book is well-illustrated.
